Cathy Blanch and the Murres are a professional jazz and blues band with experience playing throughout the country. Cathy recorded Mood Swing, a live jazz album in Seattle, Washington and played with Seattle’s biggest jazz talents from 1999 to 2005 before moving to the Capital Region. Her influences are Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, and the legendary Songbook tunes from Gershwin and Porter. Cathy’s smoky, velvety-rich voice rounds out the melodies of the past golden era with a contemporary flavor. With a lifetime of music, her repertoire ranges from musical theatre to chamber choirs and gospel blues. Cathy has played Seattle special events and venues including Tula’s Jazz Club, The Asian Art Museum, Sorry Charlies, Bake’s Place, MOHAI, and New York venues including Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Capital Repertory Theatre’s Search Party Gala, The Century House, Troy Night Out’s First Annual Fundraiser Party, Downtown Albany city events, as well as private events, weddings, and more. Cathy sings with The Murres, who are: James Ketterer on drums, David Cudzilo on bass, and Mike Nirsberger on guitar. She also performs solo projects which include indie songs and her original folk and blues material
