Robert Bennett performs throughout the greater Tri-State area as a classical and jazz trombonist. He currently leads his own quintet, the Bob Bennett Quintet, and performs with the Erica Seguine/Shannon Baker Jazz Orchestra and Westchester Symphonic Winds in addition to freelance work.

Robert has been principal trombone of the famed Eastman Wind Ensemble, lead and solo trombonist with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble, as well as performing with numerous other ensembles including the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, Northern Symphonic Winds, Brooklyn Wind Symphony, New York Opera Exchange, and Stan Rubin Orchestra. He has given world and American premiere performances of works by noted composers Bob Brookmeyer, Bill Holman, David Maslanka, Eric Ewazen, and Viet Cuong. Notable people he has collaborated with include Dick Oatts, Massimo La Rosa, Michael Davis, Bill Reichenbach, John Marcellus, Mark Kellogg, Hubert Laws, Stefon Harris, Byron Stripling, and Harold Danko just to name a few.

He performs on a Custom Bach 42BO with a Christian Lindberg 4CL gold mouthpiece, and on a Custom King 2B+ with a Christian Lindberg 10CL gold mouthpiece.
