Michael Wicks graduated from the Crane School of Music. From 1969 to 1999, he taught music at Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth. Since 1988, he has been the studio instructor for double bass at Schenectady County Community College. He is a past member of the Albany Symphony Orchestra and a present member of the Berkshire Symphony, Schenectady Symphony, Utica Symphony and Glens Falls Symphony.

Michael has played for many shows at Proctors including “Ragtime,” “Annie” and “Peter Pan.” At Capital Repertory Theatre, he played in “Forever Plaid” and “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.”

For many years, Michael has played jazz in the Capital District with local jazz artists including Peg Delaney, Nick Brignola, Ray Alexander, Cole Broderick, Leo Russo and Lee Shaw. He has played with nationally known jazz artists as well: Phil Woods, Chet Baker, Doc Cheatham, Bill Watrous, Sal Nestico and Zoot Sims.
