Craig Magnano

A Capital District native, Craig Magnano has been busy making a name for himself on the New York City jazz scene while he completes a BFA in music at SUNY Purchase.

In his junior year at Purchase the guitarist won the "Thomas Presser Award" given to the most outstanding junior in the music conservatory.

Magnano was also a part of the world premiere performance of original music composed by legendary trumpeter Jon Faddis based on an art exhibition of the works of Romare Bearden called "Narrations".

The guitarist has performed with a number of top notch jazz artists over the past several years (including saxophonist Ralph Lalama, pianist Charles Blenzig, & drummer Deon Parsons) and is currently recording a duo CD with bassist Todd Coolman. The duo of Coolman & Magnano will be presenting a lecture/performance for the Doris Kempner Foundation Grant recently awarded to the bassist.
