Marcus Benoit has been performing in the Capital Region since 1982. He composed music, played saxophone and flute for the Cole Broderick Quartet for 10 years, played saxophone for Cliff Avery's jazz/smooth jazz group Red Clay for a year, and prior to those gigs was part of a U.S. Air Force Field Band stationed in New Jersey. Marcus has led his own quartet at venues such as 9 Maple Ave., Club Helsinki and the Van Dyck and is currently leading his own group the Marcus Benoit Band, playing in the Latin jazz group the Mambo Dragon Jazz Band and doing solo piano gigs.
