Take Two Trio

Bill Hoeprich - upright bass
Bill Cash - guitar
Megan Gebert Wilson - vocals

Three music educators in various stages in their careers: one retired; one close to retirement and one in the middle of her career. The common bond being a love of jazz and in particular, music from the Great American Song Book.

Our rhythm section consists of Bill Hoeprich on upright bass and Bill Cash on guitar. While both these educators have decades of experience on their primary instruments, trombone and trumpet, about a decade ago they started exploring jazz instrument that they always admired. With the zeal of a elementary student with a new horn, and the practice habits of the classically trained musicians that they are, they fell in love with these ‘new instruments’ and have spent countless hour working on them, much to the delight of both their wives!

This ‘second chance’ with performance (Take two) has lead to an amazing amount of opportunities for both musicians. Hoeprich has been busy in the Capital District of New York performing a number of venues with various groups. Cash, on the other hand, has taken a different route: solo guitar performance in the Champlain and Hudson Valleys of New York.

Our vocalist, Megan Gebert is a music educator splitting her time between teaching at a private school and being an adjunct professor. Although she was trained as a classical singer, in recent years she has found success as a jazz vocalist, performing a repertoire of over two hundred of the great jazz standards and more. Megan’s affinity for the Great American Songbook can be heard on her cd ‘Take one’ , performances with outstanding musicians from the Louisville, KY area. Personally, we’re glad that this Capital District native has returned home for “Take two”
