The Wayne Grosvenor Rhythm and Jazz Quartet is a local band focusing mostly on jazz, with some funk, black gospel and reggae. They will be playing standard covers and original music.

Born and raised in New York City, Wayne was attracted to music from his elementary school days. He played conga drums professionally throughout his senior year of high school. He then fell in love with the bass, which he has played ever since. He has been playing in churches since the early eighties. Wayne has played with various Christian bands including Regional Christian Artists and Heart for Worship. Wayne has been a regular student at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Summer Workshops for the last five years and continues his studies, privately, with several well know bassists. Wayne is also currently the bass player for 4Ever1.

Wayne is in the process of developing the RJQ website as an educational page, especially for people just becoming familiar with jazz. Currently, he highlights a different artist each month, with links for more in depth information, and hopes to eventually post educational articles on the site, for those interested enough to register. The site is also updated monthly with suggested listening and reading material pertaining to jazz. He will also be looking for article contributions from the jazz community - anything from practice tidbit, suggestions, theory lessons, equipment suggestions; pretty much anything related to jazz. Articles can be submitted to trueabdrahim@gmail.com.
